Backup Implementation and Administration Specialist
We are looking for a Backup Implementation and Administration specialist to implement, maintain, and support our Clientele’s growing infrastructure. You will be part of a systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.
Roles and responsibilities
Day-to-day operational support of backup environments: Dell EMC Networker, Avamar, IDPA, Data Domain, etc.
Monitor ticket queue and email to identify and resolve production issues.
Monitor disk and tape backup environment to make sure backups complete successfully.
Manage configuration of disk and tape backup, including tape labeling and pool management, schedule management.
Take ownership of issues to see them through to resolution, even if the resolution is provided by an external team or vendor.
Scheduling/execution of planned infrastructure changes and events.
Working closely with the Project Manager through the deployment of the projects assigned.
Provide client support related to storage and backups via email and phone, escalating as necessary.
Work with a global team, taking and providing warm handover to ensure continuity of issue resolution.
Work with platform vendors to pursue issue resolution.
Potential cross-training with other platforms: Unix, Windows, Database.
Requirements/Skills
Tape backup data restore using Networker.
Deployment of Backup solutions like Tape libraries, Avamar, Networker, Data Domain, IDPA, Veeam, etc.
Administration and troubleshooting skill on Avamar, Networker, Data Domain, and IDPA.
Administering the Networker Management Console Server and command line exposure.
Experience in Tape Library management and troubleshooting.
Experience in medium to large IT infrastructure across multiple datacenters.
Good understanding of enterprise-level change, incident, and problem management process.
Effective communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a global team.
Experience with documentation including HLD, LLD, and build documentation.
Ability to work and prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment with a global focus.
SRDF, SRDF/A, and Snap Mirror technologies.
Experience in Dell EMC Solutions (VNX, VMAX, Unity, Powerstore, VxRail) is a plus.
